Chorus is ready for Sunday show

Director Ron Sayer leads the chorus through a practice session Monday, April 17, in preparation for its final show of the season, "Pop Goes the Choir." The performance on Sunday, April 23, at 3 p.m. in the Marshall High School Little Theater is free and open to the public. It will include a number of familiar folk and show songs.

The last performance for the season of the Marshall Community Chorus might turn into a sing-along.

The show, "Pop Goes the Choir," Sunday, April 23, at 3 p.m. in the Marshall High School Little Theater, will include a number of songs the audience will probably be familiar with, according to Director Ron Sayer.

"They may even want to sing along," he said.

The program will feature a medley from "The Music Man" and other show songs plus a number of American and Irish folks songs, including "Old Dan Tucker," "Cindy," "When Irish Eyes Are Smiling," and "Toora Loora Loora."

Although the show will emphasize the familiar, it will include some newer songs as well, Sayer said.

The performance is free and open to the public. Sayer said he hopes for a good turnout, especially since this will be the last opportunity for people to see the chorus until the fall season begins, probably in October.

"Marshall has an abundance of talent," Sayer said.

"This group worked very well together. They are all volunteers from all walks of life."
