Geneva Jane Payne, 63, of Higginsville, died Saturday, April 15, 2006, at her daughter's home in Independence.

Funeral Services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, April 19, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Higginsville. Pastor Marcus Jauss will officiate. Marilyn Boeschen, organist, will accompany Sandy Starkebaum as she sings "How Great Thou Art" and "The Lord's Prayer." Congregational hymns will be "I Know That My Redeemer Lives" and "Amazing Grace." Visitation will be noon to 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at the church. Burial will be in St. Paul's Lutheran Cemetery in Concordia. Memorials are suggested to Immanuel Lutheran Church. Friends may email condolences to the family at kaiser-wiegers@ctcis.net.

Born April 25, 1942, in Marshall, she was the daughter of the late Edwin Luehrs and Elsie Wolpers Luehrs, who survives of Concordia. She was baptized at Mt. Leonard by Rev. William Jording on May 17, 1942. She was confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church on March 25, 1956. She attended Zion Lutheran School at Blackburn and graduated from Blackburn High School. She graduated from Aladdin Beauty College in Kansas City and then worked at Vogue Beauty Shop in Sweet Springs for five years. She worked most of her life with her husband, managing the couple's real estate properties. On May 11, 1968, in Blackburn she married John Thomas "Tom" Payne, who survives of the home. She resided at Higginsville all her married life.

Additional survivors include two daughters, Dawn Payne of Higginsville and Coco Payne-Haas of Independence; two sisters, Peggy Frerking and Sandra Schelp of Concordia; one granddaughter; and nieces and nephews.
