Esther (Jim) Richards, 88, of Marshall, died Thursday, April 13, 2006, at Fitzgibbon Hospital in Marshall.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, April 17, at Campbell-Lewis Chapel in Marshall. William W. Harlow will officiate. Visitation will be held from 1 to 2 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Malta Bend Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Malta Bend Cemetery or Marshall Senior Center.
Born February 22, 1918, in Knob Noster, she was the daughter of the late George McDaniel and Clara Cox McDaniel. On September 11, 1936, she married Herbert Richards who preceded her in death on February 15, 1981. She had lived in Marshall most of her life and retired from ConAgra Frozen Foods in 1992 and then worked at Blosser Home for 15 years.
Survivors include two daughters, Barbara Malan of Bates City and Beverly Wilson of Marshall; one son, Wendell (Buck) Richards of Joplin; eight grandchildren 20 great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; three brothers, Marion (Bubby) McDaniel of Crowley, Texas, Harold McDaniel of rural Marshall and Kenneth McDaniel of Independence; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one grandson, Charles Stewart Richards, four sisters, Hazel Meek, Clara Bell Hardison, Capitola Akeman and Ruby Zimmerman, and three brothers, Roy, George and Charlie McDaniel.
