Anna Marie Buford Williams, 89, of Marshall, died Saturday, April 1, 2006, at Fitzgibbon Hospital in Marshall.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 8, at Mt. Olive Baptist Church in Marshall. Pastor I.B.S. Groves Jr. will officiate. Pallbearers will be Larry Johnson, Mitchell Johnson, Michael Johnson, Robert Johnson, Geoff Smith and Donnie Lucas Jr. Honorary pallbearers will be John Bell, Edward Chess Sr., Robert Smith and Edward Chess Jr. Visitation will be from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday at the church. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery in Marshall. Memorials are suggested to Mt. Olive Baptist Church.
Born Nov. 14, 1916, at Salt Pond, she was the daughter of William Buford and Savannah Tibe Buford. She married Edward Williams, who preceded her in death. She was a lifelong resident of Saline County and a member of Mt. Olive Baptist Church. She was educated in Saline County and worked for FM Stampers, Viking Cleaners and the Marshall Laundry, all in Marshall.
Survivors include three daughters, Barbara Conway of Marshall, Betty Johnson of Marshall and Mary Hampton of Chicago, Ill.; one son, Paul Williams of Columbia; 10 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; 17 great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by three children, Bertha Hale, James Williams and Donnie Williams; and 13 brothers and sisters.
