Leola D. Richardson, 74, of Lee's Summit, formerly of Saline County, died Saturday, March 25, 2006, at her home.
Cremation. Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, April 2, at Slater Presbyterian Church. Rev. Pam Sebastian will officiate. Bethany Weiker, organist, and Olivia Butler, pianist, will provide music. Memorials are suggested to the church or Kansas City Hospice East in care of Weiker Funeral Home in Slater.
Born Jan. 15, 1932, in Slater, she was the daughter of the late Walter O. McMellen and Martha Luella Stipes McMellen. On Nov. 11, 1949, in Marshall, she married William L. Richardson, who preceded her in death March 17, 2000. She was a member of Slater Presbyterian Church and had lived in the Kansas City area since 2000, moving from rural Gilliam.
Survivors include two sons, William Scott Richardson of Marshall and Jeffrey L. Richardson of Lee's Summit; five daughters, Martha Anne Richardson of University City, Mich., Jessica Lee Richardson of Mission, Kan., Cynthia Jane Lyles of Hiawassee, Ga., Ameila L. Rock of Lee's Summit and Leslie Ruth Butler of Marshall; two brothers, Robert McMellen of League City, Texas, and Larry McMellen of Fenton, Mich.; two sisters, Dorcas Marsh of Slater and Martha DeCarlo of Lee's Summit; 17 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers and one sister.
