Lorene Mary Thomason, 83, of rural Slater, died Monday, March 13, 2006, at Fitzgibbon Hospital in Marshall.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, March 17, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Saline City. Visitation will be from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Thursday, March 16, at Campbell-Lewis Funeral Home in Marshall. Burial will be in Salem United Church of Christ Cemetery. Due to the loss of Salem United Church of Christ and the recent tornadoes, the family requests in lieu of flowers that memorials be made to the Salem United Church of Christ Building Fund.
Born May 1, 1922, in Saline County, she was the daughter of the late George Frank Leimkuehler and Alma Kiso Leimkuehler. On July 29, 1945, she married Johnnie Thomason Jr., who preceded her in death Dec. 23, 2005. She had lived in Saline County her entire life and was a graduate of Slater High School. She had worked at Town and Country Shoe, Blosser Crippled Children's Home, Fitzgibbon Hospital and was a homemaker. She was a member of Salem United Church of Christ.
Survivors include two sons, Charles Thomason of rural Gilliam and Bob Thomason and wife Teresa of Slater; two brothers, Donald Leimkuehler of rural Slater and Roland Leimkuehler of rural Gilliam; five grandchildren, Damon, Bridget, John, Derrick and Daniel Thomason; two great-granddaughters, Rikki and Christie Thomason; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one granddaughter, Bobbie Lee Thomason; and one brother, Amiel Leimkuehler.
