Roland H. Kolkmeyer, 80, of Slater, died Thursday, March 2, 2006, at University of Missouri-Columbia Hospital in Columbia.
Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, March 7, at Slater City Cemetery with military honors. Rev. Robert Sisney will officiate. Pallbearers will be Charlie Guthrie, Greg Fizer, Paul Butler, Carl Young, Steve Shannon and Arthur Forst. Visitation will be from 7 to 8 p.m. Monday, March 6, at Weiker Funeral Home in Slater. Memorials are suggested to the Slater Veterans Memorial Park or American Legion Post No. 78 in Slater.
Born Aug. 17, 1925, in Wellington, he was the son of the late Fredrick and Amelia Block Kolkmeyer. On June 2, 1951, in Wellington, he married Alice P. Swigart, who survives of the home. He was a member of St. Luke's United Church of Christ in Wellington. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and a member of American Legion Post No. 78 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 4367, both in Slater. He was co-owner of BRAD Manufacturing in Slater until his retirement and had lived in Slater since 1966, moving from Wellington.
Additional survivors include one son, Ronald Kolkmeyer of Slater; two daughters, Paula Pollard of Slater and Kathy McGuire of Marshall; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother.
