Russell E. Pollard, 83, of Marshall, died Sunday, Feb. 26, 2006, at Fitzgibbon Hospital in Marshall.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 1, at St. Peter Catholic Church in Marshall with Father Kevin Gormley officiating. Pallbearers will be Michael Maher, Patrick Maher, Tommy Joe Maher, Greg Maher, Eddie Pollard and John Buckwalter. Prayer service will be held at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 28, at Campbell-Lewis Funeral Home with visitation following from 7 to 8 p.m. Burial will be in Sunset Gardens Cemetery in Marshall. Memorials may be made to St. Peter Catholic Church Building Fund.
Born Dec. 31, 1922, in Hunnewell, he was the son of the late Thomas Pollard and Anna May Gough Pollard. On Nov. 6, 1947, he married Mary Berneice Maher, who survives of the home. He retired from Southwestern Bell Telephone Company after 39 years of service. He was a member of St. Peter Catholic Church and a 3rd degree member of Knights of Columbus Council 876 in Marshall. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, serving from January 1943 to December 1945.
Additional survivors include one daughter, Regina Malcolm and husband Larry of Blue Springs; two sons, David Pollard and wife Linda of Sedalia and Stephen Pollard of Marshall; seven grandchildren; one step-granddaughter; three great-grandchildren; two step-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sons in infancy, two sisters and three brothers.
