Katherine Marie Sweeney, 83, of Lee's Summit, died Saturday, Feb. 25, 2006, at Crown Care Center in Harrisonville.
Funeral services were held at 6 p.m. Monday, Feb. 27, at Dickey Funeral Home in Harrisonville. Graveside services and interment will be in Our Lady of the Desert Cemetery in Tucson, Ariz. Memorials are suggested to Crown Care Center in Harrisonville. To send condolences, go to www.dickeyfh.com.
Born June 25, 1922, in Sweet Springs, she was the daughter of the late Val and Ella Stolbert Weisenburger. On June 21, 1959, in Marshall, she married Morris Mott Sweeney, who preceded her in death. She was a school teacher for Tucson High School in Tucson, Ariz., until her retirement in the 1970s. She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Marshall and had attended the University of Missouri-Columbia and Missouri Valley College in Marshall. She lived in Tucson and Lee's Summit before moving to Harrisonville in 2004.
Survivors include one sister, Louella Sims Hemme of Sweet Springs; two nephews; three nieces and several great-nieces and great-nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two sisters Elsa Harlow and Helen Chamberlin.
