Kathryn Ann Greenfield Smith, 77, of Liberty, died Sunday, Feb. 19, 2006, at her home.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 22, at Second Baptist Church, 309 E. Franklin, Liberty. Visitation will be from 9:30 to 11 a.m. Wednesday at the church. Burial will be in Glenridge Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to International Mission Board, Southern Baptist Convention, P.O. Box 6767, Richmond, VA 23230. Park Lawn Northland Chapel is in charge of funeral arrangements.
Born Sept. 15, 1929, in Independence, she was the daughter of the late Lawrence and Beulah Greenfield. She graduated from high school in Independence then graduated from Southwest Baptist College in 1949, Ouchita Baptist College in 1951 and New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary in 1954. On Aug. 25, 1950, she married Hugh G. Smith, who survives of the home. The couple pastored churches in California and Marshall before being appointed as missionaries by the Foreign Mission Board of the Southern Baptist Convention. They served in Singapore, Malaysia, Guam, Fiji, Zambia, India and Pakistan over a 30-year span. They retired in 1993 and moved to Liberty.
Survivors include two daughters, Beth Cochran of Olathe, Kan., and Kendra Callaway of Liberty; one son, Dan Smith of Concord, N.H.; one sister, Judy Turner of Independence; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one sister, Dorothy Stone; one brother, Larry Greenfield; and one son, Scott Smith.
