Aubrey W. Graves, 92, of Lincoln, died Sunday, Feb. 19, 2006 at Lincoln Community Nursing Home in Lincoln.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 22, at Davis-Miller Funeral Home in Lincoln. Rev. Diana Loomis will officiate. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. Tuesday until the time of the funeral at the funeral home. The family will receive friends from 1:30 to 2 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Sunnyside Cemetery near Lincoln. Memorials are suggested to Sunnyside Cemetery or Lincoln Community Nursing Home in care of the funeral home.
Born April 13, 1913, near Ionia, he was the son of the late B.M. and Mattie G. Gunn Graves. He grew up on a farm southwest of Lincoln and graduated from Lincoln High School. In 1939, he married Ceola Faye Shull, who preceded him in death in 2000. He worked as a shoe cutter for International Shoe Company in Marshall for 32 years, retiring in 1975 to the family farm near Lincoln. He attended and was a member of Sunnyside Methodist Church until it burnt. He then transferred his membership to Hickory Chapel Methodist Church. He was also a member of International Boot and Shoe Union Local No. 639.
Survivors include one son, Steve Graves and wife Kay Plummer Graves who have dual residence in Warsaw and Marshall; two grandchildren, Steve Graves Jr. and wife Sissy of Lincoln and Amy D. Harriman of Marshall; one great-granddaughter, Jessica Harriman of Marshall; and other relatives and friends.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by three sisters, Anna Grace Graves, Alice West and an infant sister.
