Marilyn Sue Portwood, 56, of Sweet Springs, died Sunday, Feb. 19, 2006, at Apple Ridge Care Center in Waverly.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 22, 2006, at Campbell-Lewis Chapel in Sweet Springs. William W. Harlow will officiate. Pallbearers will be Tom Newell, Leroy Newell, Everett Lee Snider, Danny Snider, Mark Peeples and Everett Peeples. Honorary pallbearers will be Jim Galloway, Jesse Galloway, Ron Dittmer, Cassie Simmons, Alissa Galloway, Jacquelin Galloway and Caleb Prentzler. Visitation will be held from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 21, at the funeral home. Burial will be in Nelson Cemetery in Nelson. Memorials are suggested to Valley Hospice.
Born March 18, 1949, in Jamestown, she was the daughter of the late Dorsey W. Hutchison and Mary Cartner Hutchison. She had lived in Saline County her entire life and was a homemaker. She was a member of Nelson Assembly of God.
Survivors include two daughters, Melissa L. Short of Nelson and Angela S. Prentzler of Concordia; two brothers, Dorsey T. Hutchison of Nelson and Jimmy Dale Hutchison of Sweet Springs; four sisters, Betty Simmons, Virginia Newell, Mary Peeples and Doris Simmons all of Sweet Springs; eight grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Gladys Ferguson.
