Emma Young Colvert, 97, of Marshall, died Thursday, Feb. 2, 2006, at Mar-Saline Manor in Marshall.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 4, at Campbell-Lewis Chapel in Marshall. William W. Harlow will officiate. Pallbearers will be Larry Joe Campbell, Brent Cramer, T.J. Campbell, Joe Thomas, Robert L. Thomas, Bill Meyer and Max Thomas. Honorary pallbearers will be Howard Mac Thomas, Chester Barnes, Melvin Barnes, Austin Campbell and Fred William Ludwig. Burial will be in Ridge Park Cemetery in Marshall. Visitation will be from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Friday, Feb. 3, at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to First Christian Church of Marshall.
Born Jan. 19, 1909, in Saline County, she was the daughter of the late Lem Thomas and Laura Wood Thomas. On March 31, 1934, she married William H. Colvert, who preceded her in death July 24, 1973. She had lived in Saline County her entire life, where she had worked at Town and Country Shoe in Slater, Doyle Stationary and Vogue Clothing in Marshall and was a homemaker. She was a member of First Christian Church and its Comrades Class and had been a member of the Garden Club.
Survivors include two nieces, Dorothy Miller and Darlene Campbell, both of Marshall; along with many other nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and relatives.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by six brothers and five sisters.
