Alfred L. "Al" Clark, 71, of Blackburn, died Wednesday, Jan. 25, 2006, at I-70 Medical Center in Sweet Springs.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 28, 2006, at Campbell-Lewis Chapel in Marshall. Karen Sims and William W. Harlow will officiate. Pallbearers will be Gary Kresse, Kenny Sims, Wayne Seals, Mike Buck, Robert Fischer and James Townsend. Honorary pallbearers will be Jeff Sims, Tim Sims, Scott Sims, Seth Fischer, Corey Fischer and Steve Sims. Visitation will be held from 1 to 2 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Ridge Park Cemetery in Marshall. Memorials may be made to Blackburn First Responders or Marshall Family Worship Center.
Born Aug. 14, 1934, in Miller County, he was the son of the late Edward Clark and Anna Hake Clark. On July 5, 1952, he married Laverne Jones, who preceded him in death Dec. 10, 2003. He had lived in Blackburn the last six years, previously living in Marshall and Warsaw. He had served as deputy sheriff for the Saline County Sheriff's Department in the late 1960s and early '70s and was a tire salesman for many years, retiring in 1998. He was a member of the Marshall Family Worship Center.
Survivors include two daughters, Karen Sims and husband Kenny of Blackburn and Peggy Fischer and husband Robert of Concordia; one brother, Ray Clark of Dixon; one sister, Bernadine Howser of Dixon; nine grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by one son, Randall Alfred Clark; and 10 brothers and sisters.
