Philip T. McCorkle, 85, of Marshall, died Monday, Jan. 23, 2006, at The Living Center in Marshall.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 26, at Campbell-Lewis Chapel in Marshall. Rev. Vernon Maxted will officiate. Pallbearers will be Larry Aldredge, Brian McCorkle, Charlie McCorkle, Ronnie Higgins, Carl Lefevers and Mike McCorkle. Visitation will be held from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 25, at Campbell-Lewis Funeral Home in Marshall. Burial will be in Millers Chapel Cemetery in Pettis County. Memorials are suggested to Bethany Baptist Church or Millers Chapel Cemetery.
Born July 12, 1920, in Nelson, he was the son of the late Philip Herbert McCorkle and Sarah Frances Thorp McCorkle. On Oct. 4, 1941, he married Pauline Lefevers, who preceded him in death April 13, 2005. He had lived in Saline County most of his life and was a farmer and owner/operator of McCorkle Trucking Company. He was a member of Bethany Baptist Church in Marshall.
Survivors include one daughter, Virginia Farr and husband Wayne of Marshall; two sons, David McCorkle and wife Ann of Holts Summit and Pete McCorkle and wife Debbie of Marshall; 10 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by one brother, Hudson McCorkle; and two sisters, Marcia McCorkle and Jemima Darling.
