Faletha K. Bure, 86, of Slater, died Tuesday, Jan. 17, 2006, at Big Bend Retreat in Slater.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Jan. 23, at First Baptist Church in Slater. Rev. Robert Sisney will officiate. Bethany Weiker, organist, will accompany Gerald Gerhard as he sings "How Great Thou Art." Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Monday at the church. Burial will be in the Slater City Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to Big Bend Retreat in care of Weiker Funeral Home in Slater.
Born Feb. 20, 1919, in rural South Dakota, she was the daughter of the late Carl and Ruby Morris King. On Dec. 25, 1937, she married Virgin T. Whitfield, who preceded her in death March 2, 1960. On Oct. 27, 1977, she married Kenneth W. Bure, who preceded her in death Nov. 13, 1989. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Slater and a longtime Slater resident.
Survivors include one son, Gene Whitfield of Lakewood, Colo.; one sister, Jean Morgan of Centerview; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husbands, she was preceded in death by one brother, Lyman King.
