Elfred Becker, 85, of Sweet Springs, died Thursday, Jan. 12, 2006, at I-70 Medical Center in Sweet Springs.
Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Jan. 16, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Sweet Springs. Burial was in Fairview Cemetery in Sweet Springs. Memorials are suggested to Immanuel Lutheran Church.
Born June 18, 1920, at Indianola, Neb., he was the son of the late Rev. Alvin Becker and Martha Oetting Becker. On June 6, 1943, he married Hildegard Schelp, who survives of the home. He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Sweet Springs and its Mens' Club. He had lived in Sweet Springs since 1944, moving from Kansas City. He was a retired foreman from International Shoe Company in Sweet Springs and Marshall. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II.
Additional survivors include one son, Ronald W. Becker of Granite Bay, Calif.; one daughter, Janice K. Gerhart of Grandview; one sister, Vera Crosmer of Twin Falls, Idaho; four brothers, Rev. Norbert Becker of St. Louis, Rev. Donald Becker of Chicago, Ill., Marvin Becker of Nevada City, Calif., and Robert Becker of Chicago, Ill.; two grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; two stepgreat-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers and one sister.
