Claudia Irene Washington, 60, of Marshall, died Monday, Jan. 9, 2006, as the result of an automobile accident.
Funeral services will be held at noon Saturday, Jan. 14, at First United Methodist Church in Marshall. Friends may call from 9 to 9:45 a.m. Saturday at H.T. May and Son Funeral Home in Marshall and from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday at the church. Burial will be in Sunset Gardens Cemetery in Marshall. Memorials are suggested to the Claudia Washington Memorial in care of Bank of America.
Born Jan. 20, 1945, in St. Louis, she was the daughter of the late Amos McGowan Sr. and Marie Naomi Sumpter McGowan. She worked at Butterfield Youth Services in Marshall, where she was employed as a counselor. She was a member of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People and the Salvation Army.
Survivors include one son, Akindele Washington of St. Charles; two daughters, Naomi Fulton of Belleville, Ill., and Glenda Pullom of St. Louis; four brothers, Jimmy McGowan of St. Louis, Glen McGowan of Memphis, Tenn., JoeBenny McGowan of Columbia and Amos McGowan of Slater; and three granddaughters.
