Virginia Abney Bryant, 96, of Sautee-Nacoochee, Ga., formerly of Napton, died Wednesday, Jan. 4, 2006.
Memorial services will be held at a later date in Napton. Memorials are suggested to local Hospice organizations.
Born March 28, 1909, in Napton, she was the daughter of the late Shelton and Virginia Abney. She was known as "Gee Gee" or "Gramer" to her family and friends. She graduated from Missouri Valley College in Marshall and later taught high school English in Napton. Married for 63 years, she was preceded in death by her husband, John William "Jay" Bryant. She will be remembered as a wonderful homemaker, gardener, mother and grandmother.
Survivors include one daughter, Sheila Louisse Derby of Dahlonega, Ga.; one son, John Michael Bryant of Franklin, Tenn.; and five grandchildren, Eric John Weissinger of Cleveland Heights, Ohio, Christopher Eugene Weissinger of Decatur, Ga., Kary Elizabeth Wolfe of Birmingham, Ala., Bradley Yale Bryant of Jackson, Miss., and James Wesley Bryant of Franklin, Tenn.
