Martha Ballenger, 63, of rural Mt. Leonard, died Friday, Jan. 6, 2006, at Fitzgibbon Hospital in Marshall.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Monday, Jan. 9, at Campbell-Lewis Chapel in Marshall. Rev. Cliff Cato officiated. Burial was in Sunset Gardens Cemetery in Marshall. Memorials are suggested to the family's choice.
Born Nov. 6, 1942, in Kansas City, she was the daughter of the late James Joseph Rafferty and Katherine Ann Short Rafferty. On June 11, 1966, she married Raymond Ballenger, who survives. She had lived in the Mt. Leonard area since 1971, working at Rival Manufacturing in Sweet Springs. She was also a homemaker and a Baptist.
Additional survivors include two sons, Marty Ballenger of rural Mt. Leonard and Jonathan William Ballenger of rural Marshall; one daughter, Amanda R. Dowell of Mt. Leonard; one brother, William Joseph "Bill" Rafferty of Marshall; one sister, Marie Heitman of Kansas City; a special sister-in-law, Hazel Rafferty of Marshall; four grandchildren; along with several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Donald Rafferty, James Rafferty and John Rafferty.
