John R. Howery Jr., 63, of rural Marshall, died Thursday, Dec. 29, 2005, at Fitzgibbon Hospital in Marshall.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 31, at Campbell-Lewis Chapel in Marshall. William W. Harlow will officiate. Visitation will be held from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Friday, Dec. 30, at the funeral home. Burial will be in Union Cemetery near Marshall. Memorials are suggested to the family's choice or the dialysis unit of Marshall.
Born Jan. 31, 1942, in Marshall, he was the son of the late John R. Howery Sr. and Freda Walker Howery. On Feb. 10, 1961, he married Carol Glavin, who survives of the home. He had lived in Saline County his entire life and was a member of Miami United Methodist Church. He had worked for Wesley Kleinschmidt Construction, Butterfield Youth Services and Cohen-Esrey Management, and was currently working for George's Heating and Cooling.
Additional survivors include two sons, Eddie Howery of Marshall and Keith Howery and wife Kathy of Camdenton; two daughters, Wendy Schell and husband Shawn of Marshall and Kristin Howery of the home; one sister, Elizabeth Scheid of Montgomery City; 10 grandchildren, Jennifer and Jeremy Howery, Christopher, Jared and Zachary Howery, Jill and Morgan Schell, and Kayla, April and Dallas Cowan; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Freddie Howery; one grandson, Jonathan Schell; and daughter-in-law, Charity Howery.
