Bobby J. Brown Sr., 72, of Marshall, died Tuesday, Dec. 27, 2005, at Boone Hospital Center in Columbia.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 31, at Sweeney-Reser-Wills Funeral Home in Marshall. Rev. Aaron H. Pack will officiate. Organist Ramona Bullington will accompany Leonda Raines as she sings "How Great Thou Art" and "The Old Rugged Cross." Pallbearers will be Charles Bennett, Terry Case, Jamie Cornine, Lewis Galloway and Randy Galloway. Visitation will be from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 30, at the funeral home. Burial with military graveside services will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Marshall.
Born Sept. 22, 1933, in Marshall, he was the son of the late Lemuel and Nealie Brown. On Dec. 21, 1956, in Marshall, he married Darliss N. Bennett, who preceded him in death April 29, 2005. He was a resident of the Marshall and Slater communities for all his life. He worked as a carpenter and at the Slater IGA and Marshall Habilitation Center for many years before his retirement. He had served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.
Survivors include one son, Bobby J. Brown Jr. of Houstonia; one daughter, Melinda Galloway of Marshall; one brother, Kenneth Randell of St. Louis; two sisters, Marie Sparks of Marshall and Betty Adams of Blaine, Minn.; two grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters.
