Edith Jo Gieringer, 81, of rural Marshall, died Saturday, Dec. 24, 2005, in Frisco, Texas.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Dec. 30, 2005, at St. Peter Catholic Church in Marshall with Father Kevin Gormley officiating. Pallbearers will be Mark Gieringer, Aaron Gieringer, Benjamin Sturm, John Pat Samson, Sean Mills and Chris Brandt. Honorary pallbearers will be Tim Gieringer and Bill David Samson. Prayer service will be held at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 29, at Campbell-Lewis Funeral Home in Marshall with visitation following from 7 to 8 p.m. Burial will be in Ridge Park Cemetery in Marshall. Memorials are suggested to St. Peter Catholic Church or American Cancer Society.
Born Sept. 16, 1924, in Marshall, she was the daughter of the late Conrad A. Samson and Martha Benedick Samson. On Nov. 3, 1943, in Marshall, she married Herman E. Gieringer Sr., who preceded her in death Aug. 28, 1993. She was a member of St. Peter Catholic Church and the Altar and Rosary Society. She was a housewife and an avid gardener.
Survivors include four sons, Herman Gieringer Jr. and wife Jeanette of Glasgow, Charles Gieringer and wife Lesa of Salisbury, Kenneth Gieringer and wife Ruth of Marshall and Paul Gieringer of Marshall; two daughters, Martha Sturm and husband Terry of Onalaska, Wis., and Mary Vaughn and husband David of Frisco, Texas; one brother, E. Benedick Samson of Marshall; eight grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; one great-grandson; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by six brothers, Ben Samson, Clarence Samson, Bill Samson, Ray Samson, Phillip Samson and Conrad Samson.
