Kenneth Don Ward, 64, of Deepwater, formerly of Arrow Rock, died Friday, Nov. 25, 2005, at his home.
Funeral services were held Monday, Nov. 28, at Vansant-Mills Funeral Home in Clinton. Burial was in Smith Bend Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to Benton County Hospice or Smith Bend Cemetery.
Born Aug. 16, 1941, in New Hampton, he was the son of the late Kenneth Leo Ward and Gwendolyn McDaniel Williams, who survives. He moved to Arrow Rock in 1989 and was vocational director for the Marshall School District. He previously worked for the South Harrison School District in Bethany for 17 years and was a COE teacher from 1972 to 1980. In 1981, he became the first director of the North Central Career Center. He was active in the national VICA competition each year in Kansas City. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving in Vietnam. He was a past Rotary member as well as a member of the Missouri State Teachers Association. On Jan. 2, 1995, he married Beverly Smart, who survives of the home.
Additional survivors include two daughters, Wendy Kriewitz and Melanie Rucker, both of Bethany; one stepson, Brad Smart of Clinton; one stepdaughter, Kim Cook of Blue Springs; one brother, Jim Ward of Albany; four granddaughters; one stepgranddaughter; and two nephews.
