Willie Ellen "Shorty" Narron Kay, 80, of Salida, Colo., formerly of Saline County, died Monday, Nov. 14, 2005, at Heart of the Rockies Regional Medical Center in Salida.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, Nov. 21, at Weiker Funeral Home in Slater. Rev. Chris Weber will officiate. Visitation will be from 1 to 2 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Gilliam Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to Butterfield Youth Services or the National Kidney Foundation.
Born Sept. 27, 1925, in Gilliam, she was the daughter of the late Thomas Sterling and Elvia Campbell Narron. On Aug. 8, 1996, in Salida, she married Leo Kay, who survives of the home. She worked at the Ford plant in Kansas City during World War II, helping build airplanes. She retired from the grocery business and had lived in Arizona and Colorado the past several years.
Additional survivors include two sons, James Thomas Cox and wife Theresa of Anderson and Dale Edward Cox and wife Margie of Bates City; one daughter, Carolyn Harvey of Marshall; two stepdaughters, Vickie McElvan of the state of California and Cheri Brown of Golden, Colo.; one sister, Joyce Narron Dunkin of Independence; eight grandchildren, James Michael Cox of Bates City, Dale Leroy Cox of Bates City, Roy Glen Helm of Marshall, Holly Scott of Laramie, Wyo., Jessica Cox of Anderson, Alan Donovan of Blue Springs, Carolyn Kay Sparks of Las Vegas, Nev., and Christie McElvan of the state of California; five stepgrandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
