H.T. May, 66, of Boonville, died Thursday, Oct. 27, 2005, at his home.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 5, at Linn Memorial United Methodist Church in Fayette. Rev. Horace Hopkins will officiate. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 3, at H.T. May and Son Funeral Home in Marshall. Burial will be in Sunset Hills Cemetery in Boonville. Memorials are suggested to the New Hope Christian Building Fund in care of H.T. May and Son Funeral Home.
Born July 29, 1939, in Boonville, he was the son of the late Holwell J. and Etha Tyrus May. He married Estelle Jackson in Boonville, who survives of the home. He was a 1957 graduate of Boonville High School and he was also an all-state basketball player at Charles Sumner High School. He was a 1961 graduate of Worsham Mortuary College of Chicago, Ill. He was a member of Kappa Alpha Psi fraternity and served his mortuary apprenticeship at Stuart Parker Funeral Home in Columbia. He then joined his father in the H.J. May and Son Funeral Home of Boonville. He later expanded his business to Sedalia, Marshall and Fayette. He was a past member of St. John's Lodge No. 49 of Boonville. He was a past member of the Missouri Funeral Directors Association, Missouri State Funeral Directors and Embalmers Association, National Funeral Directors Association and National Funeral Directors and Morticians Association. He was a former member of Morgan Street Baptist Church and he was affiliated with New Hope Christian Church.
Additional survivors include three daughters, Melodia Whitmore and husband Michael of Lenexa, Kan., Kathryn May of Kansas City and Sherry Chapman of Columbia; one son, Thomas E. May of Boonville; stepmother, Lela May of Boonville; mother-in-law, Ruby Jackson of Boonville; four sisters-in-law and four brothers-in-law; and six grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one aunt and his father-in-law.
