Residents warned of phone scam

Thursday, October 27, 2005

For the second time this week, residents in the Marshall area are being warned of a phone scam attempt.

In the most recent scam, the caller claims to be from a local bank and asks the victim to confirm their account number. Marshall Police Chief Jim Simmerman said three people have reported the scam attempt so far.

Simmerman once again reminded residents to never give out personal information over the phone and advised anyone receiving a scam call to report it to police by calling (660) 886-7411.
