Norma Ruth Merrell Jones, 86, of Hamilton, died Monday, Oct. 24, 2005, at a nursing home in Hamilton.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Oct. 28, at Hamilton United Methodist Church. Visitation will be from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 27, at Bram Funeral Home in Hamilton. Interment will be in Highland Cemetery in Hamilton. Memorials are suggested to the church or Alzheimer's Association.
Born Feb. 8, 1919, in Sturgeon, she was the daughter of the late Henry Ernest and Mary Edith Uhrig Merrell. She graduated from Marshall High School in 1936 and attended beauty school. On Oct. 12, 1940, in Kansas City, she married Connor Jones, who survives of the home. The couple moved to Hamilton in 1943 and owned and operated Hamilton Locker until the mid-1970s. She was a member of Hamilton United Methodist Church and United Methodist Women.
Additional survivors include three daughters, Sharon Thomson of Excelsior Springs, Donna Combs of Newton, Iowa, and Connie Lasher of King City; four sisters, Mildred Malan of Marshall, Ernestine Wheeler of Riverside, Dorothy Turner of Riverside and Cora Lee Morris of Harlingen, Texas; two brothers, Raymond Merrell of Liberty and Nelson Merrell of Palm Harbor, Fla.; seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one sister, Naomi; one brother, Paul Merrell; and one son-in-law.
