Kathryn L. Mitchener, 94, of Marshall, died Monday, Oct. 24, 2005, at the Mar-Saline Manor Care Center in Marshall.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 26, at St. Peter Catholic Church in Marshall. Father Kevin Gormley will officiate. Sister Luanna Brucks, organist, will accompany soloist Julie Butner. Pallbearers will be Ken Castle, George Hamilton, Chad Maupin, Troy Maupin, Jeff Thompson and Mitch Thompson. Visitation will be from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 25, with prayer services at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at Sweeney-Reser-Wills Funeral Home in Marshall. Memorials are suggested to St. Peter School in care of the funeral home.
Born July 26, 1911, in Saline County, she was the daughter of the late Joseph Jacoby and Anna Lynch Jacoby. On June 1940, in Shackelford, she married Harold Thompson, who preceded him in death in 1945. On Nov. 21, 1956, she married Murrel C. Mitchener, who preceded her in death Nov. 24, 1988. She lived all of her life in Saline County. She worked as a clerk in several retail stores on the Marshall square for many years. She was a member of the Malta Bend Garden Club, Malta Bend Extension Club, Monday Club and several bridge clubs. She was a member of St. Peter Catholic Church in Marshall and its Altar Society.
Survivors include one son, Harold Thompson and wife Mary of Marshall; three grandchildren, Jeff Thompson and wife Jennifer of Marshall, Mitch Thompson and wife Tracy of Marshall and Suzann Thompson of Prairie Village, Kan.; three great-grandchildren, Morgan, Ross and Trafton Thompson, all of Marshall.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers, one sister and one infant daughter.
