Ruby H. Brumit, 83, of Leavenworth, Kan., formerly of rural Slater, died Sunday, Oct. 23, 2005, at the Medicalodge of Leavenworth in Leavenworth.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 27, at Weiker Funeral Home in Slater. Rev. Terry Sandwith will officiate. Bethany Weiker, oranist, will play "Rock of Ages" and "Beer Barrel Polka." Pallbearers will be George Stafford, Jim Ed Pool, Tim Brumit, Darrell Brumit, David Brumit and Larry Brumit. Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Slater City Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the Alzheimer's Association.
Born Aug. 21, 1922, in Minneapolis, Minn., she was the daughter of the late Henry and Hilda Stay Peterson. On Dec. 22, 1945, in Long Beach, Calif., she married Russel Otis Brumit and he preceded her in death on April 6, 1999. She was a member of New Prospect Baptist Church north of Slater and a longtime rural Slater resident before moving to Leavenworth in 2001.
Survivors include one son, Ron Brumit of Leavenworth; one sister, Pearl Lee of the state of California; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one daughter, Karen Scherer, and one brother, Raymond Peterson.
