Donald L. Swearingen, 58, of Belton, died Wednesday, Oct. 19, 2005, at his home.

Memorial graveside services were held at 3:30 p.m. Monday, Oct. 24, at Heath Creek Cemetery in southeastern Saline County. Memorials are suggested to the family's choice.

Born June 25, 1947, in Sedalia, he was the son of the late Loyd Swearingen and Opal Jeanne Mullineaux Ford. He had lived in the Kansas City area for the last several years and was a guard for the Jackson County Correctional Center. He was a U.S. Army veteran, having served in Vietnam.

Survivors include two sons, Eric Swearingen of Kansas City and Jacob "Jake" Swearingen of Belton; their mother, Robin L. Schuh of Kansas City; two sisters, LaDonna Moad and Diana Davis, both of Slater; one brother, Raymond Darrell Ford of Columbia; and several nieces and nephews.
