According to a report filed by the Missouri State Highway Patrol, Lamichael E. Hopkins, 24, was cited for driving while intoxicated, driving while revoked, careless and imprudent driving, failure to drive on the right half of the roadway and failure to wear a seat belt.
The MSHP report states that Hopkins was driving a 2002 Ford east on Missouri Highway 240 about two miles east of Gilliam around 5:40 a.m. when he traveled into the left lane on a right-hand curve. Hopkins apparently overcorrected, sending the vehicle off the right side of the highway where it struck a tree.
