Helen G. Kent, 82, of Independence, died Saturday, Oct. 15, 2005, at the Medical Center of Independence.
Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 19, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Independence. Rosary will be held at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 18, at Sparks Suburban Chapel in Independence. Burial will be in Forest Hill Cemetery in Kansas City.
Born Sept. 11, 1923, near Pilot Grove, she was the daughter of Lawrence Wittman and Christine Schuster Wittman. The family later moved to Marshall. She was a graduate of Mercy Academy in Marshall. After high school, she moved to the Kansas City area. On March 17, 1947, she married Charles B. Kent, who preceded her in death.
Survivors include two sons, Stephen Kent and Richard Kent; three daughters, Barbara Becker, Mary Kent and Laura Bird; five sisters, Marguerite Kouba, Bernice Lehane Crain, Marie Barr, Catherine Berberet and Ruth Weislocher; one brother, William Wittman; and 12 grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one sister, Alice Heinzler; and two brothers, Leonard Wittman and Robert Wittman.
