Herbert J. Rother, 74, of Sedalia, died Monday, Oct. 10, 2005, at Bothwell Regional Health Center in Sedalia.
Memorial services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Oct. 17, at Heckart/Gillespie Funeral Home in Sedalia. Rev. Vincent Hoying will officiate. The family will receive friends from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Monday at the funeral home. Friends may sign the guest register online at www.heckart-gillespie.com. Born Oct. 1, 1931, in Frankenstein, Germany, he was the son of Heinrich and Martha Leber Rother. On April 11, 1959, in Cole Camp, he married Maria H. Mandel, who survives of the home. He moved to Canada from Germany in 1953 on a work-for-passage program. He then came to the United States in 1956. He worked as a truck driver for Sedalia Fruit Company for 35 years, retiring in 1995. He was a Catholic.
Additional survivors include one daughter, Barbara A. Fain of Marshall; two brothers, Alfred Rother and Erhardt Rother, both of Germany; one sister, Helga Schmidt, of Germany; and one grandson.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four sisters and three brothers.
