Local teen faces charges after crash

Tuesday, October 4, 2005

A Marshall teen faces numerous charges following a weekend accident in rural Saline County.

According to a report filed by the Missouri State Highway Patrol, 16-year-old Jarid D. King was cited for driving while intoxicated, careless and imprudent driving and failure to wear a seat belt following the crash.

The MSHP report states King was driving south on Route YY near its intersection with Interstate 70 around 3:15 a.m. Sunday when the 1999 Ford he was driving ran off the right side of the road.

The vehicle struck a ditch and returned to the highway, crossing over and running off the left side, where it came to rest in a ditch.

King suffered moderate injuries in the crash and was taken by Sweet Springs emergency medical personnel to Fitzgibbon Hospital in Marshall for treatment.
