John W. Foote, 89, of Sweet Springs, died Saturday, Aug. 27, 2005, at Harry S. Truman Memorial Veterans Hospital in Columbia.
Cremation. A memorial service will be held 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 24, 2005, at Harvest Time Tabernacle Pentecostal Church in LaMonte. Rev. Alan Skinner will officiate. Burial with military rites will be in Fairview Cemetery in Sweet Springs. Memorials are suggested to the family's choice.
Born Jan. 5, 1916, in Happyville, Colo., he was the son of the late William Cleveland Foote and Myrtle Mae Pigg Foote. On Oct. 19, 1936, in Carrollton, he married Mildred Hicks, who preceded him in death Aug. 4, 1998. He had lived in Sweet Springs the last 30 years. He was a truck driver for Time DC Truckline for 23 years and had also served as a police officer in Marshall. He was a member of Harvest Time Tabernacle Pentecostal Church of God in LaMonte, where he served as Sunday school superintendent for many years. He was a U.S. Army veteran and also a member of Teamsters Local No. 41.
Survivors include two daughters, Doris Mitchell of Warsaw and Kay Snider of Lincoln; one son, Kenny Foote of the home; two brothers, Joseph "Bud" Foote of Marshall and Bill Foote of Cortez, Colo.; four sisters, Ruth Winfrey of Davenport, Iowa, Betty Mueller of Mayview, Esther Lynch of Marshall and Pat Wyett of Independence; eight grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by one son in infancy, John Foote; one daughter, Pat Meyer; two granddaughters, a great-grandson, six brothers and a sister.
