Donald J. Darby, 65, of St. Joseph, died Thursday, Sept. 15, 2005 at his residence.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 20, at Heaton-Bowman-Smith and Sidenfaden Chapel in St. Joseph. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday, Sept. 19, at the funeral home. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday. Interment will be at 3 p.m. Tuesday in Ridge Park Cemetery in Marshall. Memorials are suggested to the American Kidney Fund or American Heart Association.
Born March 15, 1940 in Martinsville, he was the son of the late William and Eldora Gardner Darby. On Feb. 1, 1960, in St. Joseph, he married Sharon Testerman, who survives of the home. He lived in Marshall for 40 years before moving to St. Joseph in 2001. He worked as a truck driver for ConAgra foods for over 30 years before retiring in 2002. He was a U.S. Army veteran.
Additional survivors include two daughters, Robyn Wyrick of Marshall and Stacy Markes of St. Joseph; one son, Jerry Darby of Myrtle Beach, S.C.; one sister, Mary Geier of Eldon; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters.
