Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, Sept. 20, at St. Peter Catholic Church with Father Kevin Gormley officiating. Burial will be in Mt. St. Mary's Cemetery at Shackelford. Pallbearers will be three of his grandsons, Chris Chamberlin, Aaron Huston, Cody Jenkins, along with Alan Smith, Ted Frauenhoffer, and Larry Silkwood. Honorary pallbearers will be Ed Hutcherson, Gary Malan, Jim North, Wayne Barr, Jim Chitwood and Lewis Egan. A prayer service will be held at 6 p.m. Monday. Sept. 19, at Campbell-Lewis Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Monday. Memorials may be made to Mt. St. Mary's Cemetery or to the charity of donor's choice.
Born Sept. 29, 1932, near Malta Bend, he was the son of the late Edward C. Wansing and Corinne J. Boland Wansing, who survives of the home. He had lived in Saline County most of his life where he was a farmer in the Malta Bend and Shackelford areas. He moved to Marshall in 1992 to care for his mother, Corinne, who survives of the home at the age of 101. He was a U.S. Army veteran and a member of St. Peter Catholic Church.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by two daughters, Rhonda Squires of Glasgow and Angela Maupin and husband Woody of Slater; two sons, Kevin Wansing of Casa Grande, Ariz., and Larry Wansing and wife Tammy of Phoenix, Ariz.; three sisters, Helen Samson Feik of Versailles, Marie Rupp of Lee's Summit and Rose Ann Vanderbeck of Laurie; one sister-in-law, Karen Wansing of Marshall; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; four nieces who were raised in Mick's home, Valerie Helm, Misty Malan, Melody Beyer and Daphne DeHaven; along with several other nieces and nephews who survive.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Glenn Wansing and James Wansing.
