Janet McCartney, 80, of Marshall, formerly of Cocoa Beach, Fla., died Sunday, Sept. 11, 2005, at Fitzgibbon Hospital in Marshall.
Cremation. Memorials are suggested to the American Red Cross in care of Campbell-Lewis Funeral Home in Marshall.
Born Jan. 14, 1925, in Sydney Mines, Nova Scotia, Canada, she was the daughter of the late William Downie and Jane Smith Downie. On Sept. 17, 1946, she married James A. McCartney, who preceded her in death May 25, 2002. She was a homemaker and had lived in Marshall since September 2001, moving from Cocoa Beach, Fla., where she lived from 1985 to 2001. She had lived in Abington, Pa., from 1962 to 1985. She had served in the Canadian military.
Survivors include one son, James W. "Jim" McCartney and wife Diana of Marshall; one granddaughter, Grace McCartney; four brothers and one sister.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one brother and one sister.
