Charles W. Emmerson, 86, of Marshall, died Saturday, Aug. 20, 2005, at Mar-Saline Manor Care Center in Marshall.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 25, at Sweeney-Reser-Wills Funeral Home in Marshall. Rev. Rich Shugert will officiate. Visitation will be from 1 to 2 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Organist Ramona Bullington will play "How Great Thou Art" and "In the Garden." Pallbearers will be Jeff Alfrey, Robert E. Alfrey, Robert J. Alfrey, Tom Alfrey, Bradshaw Cowan, Hank Johnson and Terry Townsend. Burial will be in Ridge Park Cemetery in Marshall.
Born Sept. 23, 1918, in Marshall, he was the son of the late George C. Emmerson and Minnie Loch Emmerson. He was a resident of Marshall all of his life. He had been employed by Massman Construction Company, working on road construction for many years. He also farmed and raised cattle in Saline County and had been employed at the Marshall Habilitation Center before his retirement.
Survivors include two sisters, Helen E. Alfrey of Marshall and Grace Johnson of Springfield; three nieces and one nephew.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, George Emmerson, John Emmerson and Harold Emmerson; and one sister, Martha Emmerson.
