Jane B. Leach, 88, of Harvest, Ala., formerly of Marshall, died Saturday, Aug. 20, 2005, at her home.
Visitation will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 25, at Campbell-Lewis Funeral Home in Marshall. Graveside services will follow at 11 a.m. at Sunset Gardens Cemetery in Marshall. Rev. Mike Brown will officiate. Memorials are suggested to First Christian Church in Marshall.
Born June 16, 1917, in Sedalia, she was the daughter of the late Ruloff Gregory Purves and Nettie Minerva Zumwalt Purves. On Jan. 17, 1947, in Fort Scott, Kan., she married Gerald Leach, former Marshall mayor, who preceded her in death April 18, 1989. She was a 1934 graduate of Smith-Cotton High School in Sedalia. For many years she co-owned and operated Western Auto in Marshall. She had lived in Harvest since 1998, moving from Marshall. She was a member of First Christian Church in Marshall.
Survivors include one son, John Leach of Jacksonville, Fla.; one daughter, Nancy Johnson of Harvest, Ala.; three grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Ruloff Purves and John Gentry Purves; and one sister, Margaret McCoy.
