James Anthony Olvera Sr., 42, of Holton, Kan., died Sunday, Aug. 21, 2005, west of Holton as a result of a car accident.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 24, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Carrollton. Rev. Ken Criqui will officiate. Visitation will be from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 23, at Gibson Funeral Home in Carrollton. A rosary service will be held at 8:30 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Fairhaven Cemetery in Norborne. Memorials are suggested to his children's education fund in care of Gibson Funeral Home, 201 S. Main, Carrollton, MO 64633.
Born July 10, 1963, he was the son of Ines and Jo Ann Olvera, who survive of Carrollton. In 1986 he married Nicki Jean Lumpkins. As a teenager, he worked at Faulk's Quality Market in Carrollton. He worked for the U.S. Department of Agriculture for the past 21 years as a federal meat inspector. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Carrollton.
Additional survivors include two sons, James Anthony Olvera Jr. and Jonathan Brock Olvera, both of Higginsville; one daughter, Sarah Jean Olvera of Higginsville; two brothers, Ines "Frank" Olvera and Gary J. Olvera, both of Carrollton; three sisters, Tina A. Olvera and Jo Anna Wells, both of Marshall, and Susan A. Riley of Carrollton; special friend, Michele Malloy and her son, Dylan, of Holton; and several nieces and nephews.
