Christopher A. Johnson, 53, of Stokes, N.C., died July 31, 2005, of pancreatic cancer.
Visitation was held at Biggs Funeral Home in Robersonville, N.C. at 7 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 4. The family received friends afterward at the home, 4570 N.C. 30 in Stokes. Memorials are suggested to the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Fund, POW/MIA, 1023 15th St. N.W., Suite 200, Washington, D.C. 20005.
Born Aug. 31, 1951, in Lombard, Ill., he was the son of William Johnson, who survives of Slater, and the late Mary Ruth Johnson. He married Rita Johnson, who survives of the home. He was a graduate of Glenbard East High School in Lombard and attended East Carolina University. He was a Marine Corps veteran of the Vietnam War, serving in the VMA(AW) 533 stationed in Nam Phong, Thailand, from 1972 to 1973. He retired from Hudson Brothers Construction Co., where he had worked as a superintendent. He his hobbies included sailing and listening to the music of Jimmy Buffet.
Additional survivors include two daughters, Jennifer Johnson of Detroit, Mich., and Susan Brooks and husband Barry of Kirkland, Ill.; one son, Jason Johnson of the home; one brother, James Johnson of Stafford, Va.; three sisters-in-law, Elizabeth McCormick and husband Paul of Boonville, N.C., Janey Schultz and husband William of Santee, Calif., and Georgia Nutini and husband William of Roselle, Ill.; and several nieces and nephews.
