Hedwig "Haphie" Reinitz Vogelsmeier, 99, of Sweet Springs, died Tuesday, Aug. 16, 2005, at Sweet Springs Villa in Sweet Springs.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Aug. 19, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Sweet Springs. Rev. Alfred Rodewald will officiate. Visitation will be from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 18, at Campbell-Lewis Funeral Home in Sweet Springs. Friends may call after 4 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery in Sweet Springs. Memorials are suggested to Immanuel Lutheran Church or the Sweet Springs Senior Center.
Born Oct. 24, 1905, in Mora, she was the daughter of the late John Reinitz and Louisa Zimmerschied Reinitz. On Aug. 24, 1930, she married John Irvin Vogelsmeier, who preceded her in death Sept. 9, 1963. She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Sweet Springs, the Ladies Aide, Priscilla Guild, L.W.M.L. and Lutheran Guild. She had lived in Sweet Springs most of her life, had retired from Sweet Springs Community Hospital and was a homemaker.
Survivors include two daughters, Phyllis Bredehoeft of Sedalia and Joan Schipper of Evansville, Ind.; two sons, John. I. Vogelsmeier and Don Vogelsmeier, both of rural Sweet Springs; 15 grandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one brother, Emil Reinitz; and one sister, Alma Zorotovich.
