Raymond E. Colvert, 88, of Marshall, died Friday, Aug. 5, 2005, at Fitzgibbon Hospital in Marshall.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 9, at Sweeney-Reser-Wills Funeral Home in Marshall. Rev. Russ Johnson will officiate. Organist Ramona Bullington will play "In the Garden" and "How Great Thou Art." Pallbearers will be Mark Hamrick, John Shatto, Nicholas Sloan and John Short. Visitation will be from 1 to 2 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial with graveside military services will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Marshall. Memorials are suggested to the Alzheimer's Association in care of the funeral home.
Born Nov. 14, 1916, in Marshall, he was the son of the late Claude H. Colvert and Carrie McFadden Colvert. On Aug. 25, 1958, in Sweet Springs, he married Hattie E. Moore, who preceded him in death Nov. 5, 2001. He attended Salt Branch School in rural Saline County and served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was employed at Kraft Foods for 25 years before his retirement in 1980.
Survivors include one son, Ralph H. Fischbeck of Kansas City, Kan.; one daughter, Ethel O. Short of Marshall; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by two brothers.
