Raleigh James Plexico, 46, of DeWitt, passed away Thursday, July 21, 2005, at Moberly Regional Medical Center.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, July 25, at Gibson Funeral Home in Carrollton. Reverend Lanny Lybarger will officiate. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery in DeWitt. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Sunday, July 24, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family request memorials be made to Raleigh Plexico Children's Trust Fund in care of Gibson Funeral Home, 201 S. Main, Carrollton, MO, 64633.
He was born on Jan. 14, 1959, in Atlanta, Ga., to Gene and Kathryn Lewellen Plexico. On Sept. 21, 1985, he married Donna Lackland at Brunswick and the union produced four beautiful children. Raleigh started in the tree service trade as a teenager. He began his Proper Tree Care Service and throughout a 30-year period perfected the art of tree trimming, performing tree beautification throughout the surrounding communities. He loved all aspects of the outdoors, as well as a variety of music. He played several instruments in a number of different bands. Raleigh was dearly loved by his family and friends. He was known by all for his good nature and unique sense of humor. He will be greatly missed.
Survivors include his wife, Donna of the home; three daughters, Tricia Johnson and husband Darren of Brunswick, Mary Plexico and Ellen Plexico, both of DeWitt; one son, James Plexico of DeWitt; mother, Kathryn Plexico of DeWitt; one brother, Mark Plexico and wife Mary Ann of Marshall; one sister, Andrea Manning and husband Matt of Raymore; one half brother, Douglas Plexico of Fresno, Calif.; two grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Raleigh was preceded in by his father.
A celebration of Raleigh's life will be held at the DeWitt Community Center following the funeral.
