John Harold Stonner, 90, of rural Miami, died Wednesday, June 29, 2005, at Fitzgibbon Hospital in Marshall.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, July 2, at Miami United Methodist Church. Rev. Jan Schnepf and Rev. Jesse Spurgin will officiate. Visitation will be held from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Friday, July 1, at Campbell-Lewis Funeral Home in Marshall. Burial will be held in Miami Cemetery at a later date. Memorials are suggested to Miami United Methodist Church, Miami Cemetery or Miami Lions Club
Born March 11, 1915, in Chamois, he was the son of the late Ed and Maude Moore Stonner. In 1919, his family moved to Miami, where he resided and farmed all his life. He was a lifelong member of the Miami United Methodist Church and a charter member of the Miami Lions Club.
Survivors include his wife Marie Gerding Stonner; three daughters, Parilee Askew and husband Jim of Alpharetta, Ga., Mary Jo Brown and husband Jim of Kirkwood and Phyllis Miles and husband Gary of Rolla; six grandchildren, Jamie Askew, Jennifer Askew Loper, Jon Brown, Deena Brown Little, Travis Miles and Hilary Miles; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by eight brothers, Norvell, Paul, Kenneth, Jesse, Robert, Roy, Hadley and Nelson; and one sister, Audrey Cantlin.
