Betty L. Pelot, of Overland Park, Kan., formerly of Saline County, died Thursday, May 26, 2005, at Shawnee Mission Medical Center in Shawnee Mission, Kan.
Memorial services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday, May 29, at Amos Family Chapel of Shawnee, Kan. Memorials are suggested to Community Living Opportunities (CLO), 6900 W. 80th St., Overland Park, KS, 66204. Arrangements were in the care of Amos Family Chapel in Shawnee.
She was born April 25, 1928, in Waldo, Ark. She married John Pelot, who survives of the home. She was a graduate of Arkansas State Teachers' College. She and her husband were co-founders of Community Living Opportunities, a not-for-profit organization for the severely developmentally disabled adults. She helped start the Meals on Wheels program in Johnson County, Kansas. She was a member of Village Presbyterian Church and Unity Church.
Additional survivors include two sons, Steven Pelot and James Pelot; one daughter, Gayle Thompson; one sister, Elizabeth Miller; one brother, Don Greer; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
