Robert L. Ruester, 53, of Blue Springs, died Friday, May 20, 2005, at his home.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, May 25, at Speaks Suburban Chapel in Independence. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, May 24, at the chapel. Private burial will be in Witcher Family Cemetery in Marshall Junction. Arrangements are in the care of Speaks Suburban Chapel. Online condolences may be left for the family at www.speakschapel.com. Born Dec. 5, 1951, in Kansas City, he was the son of Albert Ruester, who survives of Independence, and the late Dovie Garrett Ruester. He was married for 30 years to Peggy Finley Ruester, who survives of the home. He was a 1970 graduate of Truman High School and a 1974 graduate of William Jewell College. He was a member of Kansas City Baptist Temple. He worked for Sears and Roebuck for 28 years in the appliance department of the Independence Center location until retiring in 2002. His hobbies included traveling, camping in many national parks and spending time in the outdoors. He was a self-taught photographer and studied history.
Additional survivors include one son, Franklin Ruester of the home; one daughter, Leslie Ruester of the home; one brother, William Ruester and wife Cynthia of Pleasant Hill; and mother-in-law Virginia Finley of Marshall.
