Wilbur Virgil Agee, 84, of Marshall, formerly of the state of California, died Sunday, May 22, 2005, at Fitzgibbon Hospital in Marshall.
Cremation. A private family memorial service will be held at the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Higginsville. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Fitzgibbon-Mary Montgomery Hospice in care of Campbell-Lewis Funeral Home, 226 S. Odell, Marshall, Mo. 65340.
Born Nov. 21, 1920, in Redondo Beach, Calif., he was the son of the late John F. Agee and Florence E. Cogswell Agee. On July 16, 1949, he married Patricia Wilma Ryan, who preceded him in death on May 8, 1993. He had lived in Marshall the past year, spending most of his life in the state of California. He was a graduate of San Jose State University, earning a bachelor of arts degree in journalism. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, serving as an aviation radioman and receiving medals including Philippine Liberation, American Theater, Asiantic-Pacific-eight stars, Presidential Citation-one star, Good Conduct, Air Medal-one star, Commendation Ribbon and the World War II Victory Medal. After being discharged from the Navy on Dec. 24, 1946, he began a career with the United States Postal Service. He retired after 34 years of service in 1978.
Survivors include two stepsons, Philip J. Ryan of Raleigh, N.C., and Robert K. Ryan of Malibu, Calif.; 13 stepgrandchildren; several stepgreat-grandchildren; three nieces and one nephew.
